Take Hold of the Future [Lessons Learned with Suzie]

If the future is where all the good stuff is why do we tether ourselves to the past? It’s hard to live life forward, but if we don’t then hope is lost. Hope helps us keep it together when things aren’t going according to plans. Keep hoping and keep looking forward. That really IS where the good stuff is!

How to take hold of the future:

  • Focus on positive outcomes rather than on problems and challenges.
  • Make changes / decisions today that will have a positive impact on your future.
  • Let go of the past and stop defining yourself by who you were.
  • Live a grateful life.
  • Embrace change and adapt.

I don’t know about you, but I spend a lot of time look back fondly to what was, or my PERSPECTIVE of what was. We tend to look back and remember to good stuff, the good feelings, the good experiences and conveniently leave out the pain and suffering. It’s not a bad thing, every cloud DOES have a silver lining BUT we can’t dwell there. We can’t always look back because it’s only by looking forward that we continue to grow and experience life to its fullest.

Life is full of experiences and lessons. We need to be able to take those lessons and apply them to our path going forward. Each one is a stone that eventually leads to our life’s goal BUT only if we do the work. We need to take that lesson stone, place it on the ground and use it to help us on our next step. If we just ignore the lesson we might repeat it and stay there which eventually gives us a victim mentality and hinders our growth. Living life FORWARD helps leverage us to be our best selves, which is our ultimate goal.

One. Step. At. A. Time.
