5 Ways to Know if a Guy on Tinder is Only Looking to Hook Up: Guest Post

Searching for Mr. Wonderful on Tinder? Sorry ladies, even if Mr. Wonderful does exist, chances are he’s not on Tinder. To most, if not all, men using the scandalous dating app, Tinder is nothing more than a means of achieving a casual sexual encounter. You as a woman might be perusing Tinder for love, but we as men are looking for pure, unadulterated, no strings attached sex. Don’t believe me? Well, you really needn’t look further sites that have funny Tinder conversation. But, if that doesn’t do it for you, I am here as a former (recovering) male Tinder user to educate you on how to determine whether your matches are only interested in hooking up.

Before we go any further, I’ll address the elephant in the room: why would an admitted seducer like myself share these secrets with the very women I have so often sought to seduce. The answer is simple, I peaked. I’ve had every type of sexual encounter I could ever want and I’m now a wealthy man in terms of sexual experience. As many wealthy men are known to do, I want to make a charitable donation. The only difference is, my donation is not monetary, it’s educational.

Okay, so we have established that I am young, insufferable, egotistical sexual deviant, but the question remains, how can you tell if a guy on Tinder only wants to hook up?

5 Ways to Know if a Guy on Tinder is Only Looking to Hook Up

1. The Conversation Quickly Turns Sexual

One of my favorite techniques while I was still using Tinder was to start off the conversation with “wanna bang?” As utterly simplistic and ridiculously forward as it was– it got me laid on two separate occasions. Of course, I’m the first to admit that this technique, when it works, attracts a certain type of female. However, it’s fair to say that guys who are overtly forward are much more interested in getting their rocks otinder-hookupff than anything of substance.

2. Only Messages You At Night

Unless he’s sleeping during the day and working the graveyard shift at Taco Bell at night, chances are he’s messaging you at 1 AM for a booty call. In fact, one of my tried and true techniques was to send a message to all of my matches on Friday and Saturday nights. Why? Because there was a good chance I would encounter at least one match who was on her way home from the bars lonely and horny.

3. Wants To Meet Without Getting To Know You

We can all agree that Tinder is not the best platform for getting to know someone, but for the love of god, if he’s trying to meet up with you before he even knows your name, he’s most definitely not envisioning a meetup at Starbucks for coffee and good conversation.

4. He’s Got More Matches Than China Has People

In my Tinder heyday I came up with a strategy I called “rapid fire.” The strategy itself – swiping right on literally every available candidate regardless of attraction until you run out and get the dreaded “searching for more people in your area” alert – is certainly not a secret. It is employed by men worldwide, but I perfected it. As my match rates climbed, so too did the number of women I slept with. I soon realized it was a game of numbers. Admittedly, my bang to match ratio was relatively low, but the number of matches I banged a week was still at an all-time high. In short, if he’s got a ton of matches, he’s probably a promiscuous guy.

5. He’s On Tinder

It would always puzzle me when I came across a profile on Tinder with something like “not looking for hookups!” or “not into one night stands!” I would think to myself, do they realize they’re on Tinder? Plain and simple, Tinder came to prominence as a casual sex app, and if you’re looking for something beyond that, you’re probably better off making a profile on another online dating site and going that route. At the end of the day, the men on Tinder are, by and large, just looking to get into your pants.

So what should you take away from all that has been discussed here today? I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, men on Tinder are looking to get laid. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but don’t fool yourself into thinking the guys on Tinder are innocent and have no hidden motives. Even worse, don’t fool yourself into thinking you can mold that charming Casanova into boyfriend material – because that’s just what we…I mean he…wants you to think. Instead, if you’re on Tinder, just know what you’re getting into and enjoy it for the entertainment value. Heck, maybe even go have a couple of fruitless hookups for yourself. As the old adage goes, “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em!”

  1. That’s so naif.
Women get 30 times more matches than men (so your 4th bullet doesn’t hold) and are on Tinder exactly for the same reason: getting laid (5th bullet). No matter how much you want to hide it or convince yourself of the contrary.

  2. I tried Tinder, just to see what the fuss was all about… It was horrible and I lasted for two days. 1) Don’t like being judged by my appearance, I’m not unattractive, just think it’s tacky. 2) There are better things to do with my free time.
    3) People enjoy lieing to themselves, think it’s just for fun, and to meet new people… Sorry, nope… That would be like searching a porn site for wedding vows. 4) If there is already someone special in your life and you cheapen it by using Tinder, you’re an ass and probably don’t deserve the other person. 5) Love isn’t an app game. 6) If you cannot be honest w yourself as to why you’re using it, you shouldn’t be there to begin with.

  3. So if everyone knows that Tinder is for hook up, why do women join? do they think they are going to find the one guy that wants a relationship? or secretly are they looking to hook up too, but are still looking for the right hook up guy?
